  1. Thank you for this site. However, you do not have John Follis (the Daughters of the American Revolution spell it “Fallis”). In 1781, John Follis served as ensign in for the Halifax County militia under first Captain Joshua Powell, and then under Captain George Meade. Womack was a lieutenant with him. John died in Dec. 1800 in Halifax. By the way, he (we) are also related the Creel family from same area. John and Lucy Creel, suspected daughter of William Creel are inheritors in the will of Thomas Wilson. Lucy married Obediah Spradling and moved to Tennessee.

      • I completely understand. There were two John Follis/Fallis (one NY and the other of VA), Isaac Follis/Fallis and James Follis. These later two served in the Continental Army in Pennsylvania. George Fallis was a Quaker but swore allegiance and gave a large sum of money. Peter Follis also rustled cattle for the Continentals. DAR has my 6th gg John Fallis and George Fallis only, I believe. SAR has Peter, John and George only. There were six of the family total who contributed/participated. Thanks!

  2. By the way, it wasn’t George Meade but George Combs who replaced Joshua Powell after he was killed at Burwell’s Ferry when the Brit’s took Williamsburg.
