Abbott, Elijah– Continental Line recruit from Stafford County (Eckenrode, vol 2, p 11, citing “Rev. Army V. 1, Reg. 85”). Rev. Army v. 1, also known as Register of Non-Commissioned Officers and Privates 1777-1783, accession 24296 in the Library of Virginia, is a size roll of Continental Line Soldiers who enlisted at various places in Virginia. Harris’ transcript of the roll at http://revwarapps.org/b81.pdf shows that Abbott was sized 25 Aug 1781 at Albemarle Courthouse, that he was age 19, 5’8″, brown eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, Planter residing in Stafford County, born in Stafford County, engaged 21 March 1781 as a substitute for an 18 month term of service. Harris claims that this man was the same as pensioner S35167. Eckenrode, vol 1, p 14 also cites “War 4, 77.”
