Johnson, William– Was supposed to enlist 11 Dec 1780 into the Continental Army at Chesterfield Courthouse, age 24, born in Brunswick County, residence Brunswick County, supposed to enlist in the place of Marmaduke Dannil who was to be discharged provided he Johnson served the time of his enlistment, but he [Johnson] deserted the day of his enlistment” (Library of Virginia, Accession 40, “Roll of Troops Who Joined at Chesterfield Courthouse Since 1780, 1780-1781,” 16).

Jones, David– Shown on a “return of men recruited by Lieutenant David Mann for the service of the Commonwealth of Virginia” to serve as a guard at Point of Fork Arsenal, recruited 9 July 1783 from [town of] Richmond, allowed 3 pounds bounty; Memorandum, 9 July 1783, Thos. Meriwether certifies that “James Napier, David Jones & William Granger were reviewed and found to be able bodied and between fifteen and fifty years of age,” recruited by Lt Mann to serve as guards at Point of Fork Arsenal; shown as Private on “Pay Roll for the State Guards commanded by Lieutenant David Mann commenceing the 1st day of July 1783 and ending the last day of Sepr. following,” and on roll of 1 Oct-31 Oct 1783, John Dillard is shown as his substitute on roll of 1 Nov-31 Dec 1783 (APA 174, Box 498, in files “Men Recruited for the State Guards, 1783” and “Pay Rolls of the State Guards Commanded by Lt David Mann, 1783-1784”).

Jordan, Michael– Shown on a “return of men recruited by Lieutenant David Mann for the service of the Commonwealth of Virginia” to serve as a guard at Point of Fork Arsenal, recruited 7 July 1783 from [town of] Richmond, allowed 3 pounds bounty; Memorandum, 7 July 1783, Thos. Meriwether “review’d Jesse Loden, Michael Jordan & Sylvanus Cely, recruited by Mr Mann and found to be able bodied and between fifteen & fifty years of age,” recruited by Lt Mann to serve as guards at Point of Fork Arsenal; shown as Private on “Pay Roll for the State Guards commanded by Lieutenant David Mann commenceing the 1st day of July 1783 and ending the last day of Sepr. following,” and on rolls of 1 Oct-31 Oct 1783 and 1 Nov-31 Dec 1783 (APA 174, Box 498, in files “Men Recruited for the State Guards, 1783” and “Pay Rolls of the State Guards Commanded by Lt David Mann, 1783-1784”).

Jordan, Samuel- 1st Regt, served as Pvt under Capt John Moss, Col Hendricks, shown on roll of Oct 1777 as “sick Prinstown,” last shown on roll of Nov 1777 (M881, Roll 906).

Jordan, Simon- 1st Regt, enlisted 28 July 1776 for the war, served as Pvt under Capts John Fleming, John Moss, Callohill Mennis, Cols Read, Hendricks, wounded 11 Sept 1777 and confined to hospital at Princeton, last appears on roll of 4 May 1778 on which his name was cancelled (M881, Roll 906).

Jordan, Thomas Jr.– 6 March 1779, Virginia issued warrant to Thomas Jordan Junr. who lost part of both his feet in Contl.
