Hall, David– Louisa County; On a list of certificates issued by Thomas Johnson Commissioner of the Provision Law in 1780 & 1781 for services for the publick etc., certificate issued to David Hall for moving 30 bushells of grain, 40.0.0 (APA 238).

Hall, Instance– Dinwiddie County; Petersburg, 13 Apr 1782, J. Belfield, Maj 1st Regt Light Dragoons certifies that Mr Instance Hall’s stable was injured much by the horses of the 1st and 3rd Regiments Light Dragoons and the damage is judged to 11.7.6 (APA 238).

Hall, John– In a booklet of Charles Lynch, Superintendent of the Lead Mines, showing accounts of cash allowed, 14 Apr 1780, “By cash pay’d John Hall for nails” 21.15.-; also Dec 1780, 1200.-.- “for smiths work done for the mines since March”(APA 661). There are also receipts bearing Mr Hall’s signature in the file.

Harned, Dud– Rockingham County; 26 Aug 1789, John Smith came before E. Harrison JP and swore that the amounts within were expended in driving publick cattle [this is a sheet of two pages, showing receipts from individuals paid by Smith for services, showing original signatures], including…17 Nov 1781, Dud Harned received of John Smith $700 for 7 diets and horse feed (APA 238).

Harris, Samuel– Pittsylvania County; On a return of waggons that did service from 8 Sept to 31 Dec 1781 ordered by John Buckley Deputy Commissioner of Provision Law, Saml. Harris for 1 waggon, 4 horses, entered Continental Service 15 Oct (APA 238).

Harrison, Reuben– Rockingham County; (1) In a booklet of John Smith relative to cows that he collected and drove to Winchester, showing 12 Nov 1781, Reuben Harrison “for pasturage”; (2) 26 Aug 1789, John Smith came before E. Harrison JP and swore that the amounts within were expended in driving publick cattle [this is a sheet of two pages, showing receipts from individuals paid by Smith for services, showing original signatures], including…12 Nov 1781, Reun. Harrison received $1000 of John smith for diet and horse feed (APA 238).

Harrison, Thomas– Rockingham County; [certificate] 29 Aug 1789, before Benjn. Smith JP, Thomas Harrison came and made oath that in 1781 he collected about 120 or 121 head of cattle under the requisition of the Executive and delivered them to the Commissary at Winchester (APA 238).

Harrod, James– Russell County; [the following regards the account of Patrick Porter. It is two sided sheet that appears to relate mostly the receipt of beef for Duncan’s Fort in 1778. The following name appears on the back, followed by a number. The number is assumed to be the number of beeves supplied…or perhaps another commodity] Jas. Harrod, 10 (APA 238).

Hayter, William- 14 June 1781, Col William Campbell of Washington County certifies that William Hayter rode express from “my house” to Col Daniel Smith’s with letters upon business of the public, 30 miles and back (APA 139, folder “1781”).

Heintzman, Henry- 20 April1 781, Hampshire County, Garret Van Meter certifies that Henry Heintzman rode twenty miles as express on very important publick business (APA 139, folder “1781”).

Henderson, James- 14 April 1781, Thomas Jefferson certifies that James Henderson rode express on necessary public business from Green[brier?]  (APA 139, folder “1781”).

Herbert, David– Receipt 26 Sept 1778, “David Herbert” received of Col Charles Lynch 12 pounds for “runing of ten charges of lead,” wit. John Ward. Shown as “Harbut” on the back of the certificate  (APA 661).

Harrison JP came Ebenezer and John Hinton, who made oath that the within articles were furnished by their decd. father John Hinton for public use and that he or they have never received any compensation for any part thereof (APA 238).
