Barne, Isaac- Shown as deserted on a return of recruits raised for Loudoun Co under the Act of Assembly for Oct 1780 for recruiting the state’s quota of troops to serve in the Continental Army, return delivered by Capt William Owsley 11 May 1781; he was age 19, 5’6” tall, a Labourer, drafted “for Frederick Drish” to serve for duration of war from 29 Mar 1781. Bell, James– Augusta County court martial 27 Oct 1779, Lt James Bell of Capt Simpson’s company appeared in court to answer a charge against him by Capt Simpson for disobedience of orders and refractory behavior. It was the opinion of the court that he be reprimanded, which was immediately done by the President in the presence of the court (Creel, Selected Virginia Revolutionary War Records, vol 2, 52).
