Nash, Thomas– Norfolk County; The Commonwealth to Col Thos. Nash as Commissioner of the Tax for 1779, 21.0.-, also for 1780: 19.10.- and 40.0.0 (APA 238).

Neal, Thomas– Norfolk County; The Commonwealth to Capt Thos. Neale as Commissioner of the Tax for 1779, 21.-.-; also for 1780, 19.10.- and 40.-.-  (APA 238).

Newell, James– In a booklet of Charles Lynch, Superintendent of the Lead Mines, showing accounts of cash exchanged for provisions for the use of the mines in 1780: James Newel for 26 lbs bacon (APA 661); in same file is a receipt, 25 Aug 1778, “Jas. Newell Jur.” received of Charles Lynch 22.10.- for waggonage done at the Lead Mines hauling wood and “cole,” wit. John Ward.

Newsum, William– Dinwiddie County; 12 Feb 1782, Robt. Armistead & Wm. Stainback, called on to view damages done by the soldiers on the houses, garden & railing in the town of Petersburg belonging to William Newsum, are of opinion that the damages amount to 200 pounds specie (APA 238).

Nicholas, Peter– Rockingham County; In a booklet of John Smith relative to cows that he collected and drove to Winchester, showing Peter Nicholas for 1 beef, Nov 1781 (APA 238).

Nichols, William– 30 March 1779, Va. issued warrant for 61.5.- to Wm. Watson for necessaries furnished Elizh. Nichols widow of Wm. Nichols who died in Contl. Nicholson, Benjamin– Russell County; [the following regards the account of Patrick Porter. It is two sided sheet that appears to relate mostly the receipt of beef for Duncan’s Fort in 1778. The following name appears on the back, followed by a number. The number is assumed to be the number of beeves supplied…or perhaps another commodity] Ben. Nicholson, 5 (APA 238).

Nobles, John– Halifax County; On  list of sundry articles impressed for Halifax militia under Capt John Thompson ordered to join Gen Greene at Guilford, John Nobles one rifle valued 2.15.- (APA 238).
