Earle, Charles- Princess Anne Co; Loyalist claim; Surgeon; Settled in VA 1774; Refused to take American oath of allegiance; Taken prisoner at Kemp’s Landing, released; Joined Army at Great Bridge; Went to NY and acted as Surgeon to a Provincial Regt. [C:138-9]

Earnshaw, John- James River; Loyalist claim; deceased, claim made by widow Ann; He was appointed Collector of Customs 1764 for upper part of James River; Forced to flee in 1775, at settled at Grantham, Lincolnshire. [C:139-40]

Easson, Mary- Isle of Wight Co; Committee of Safety 26 Oct 1775, she appeared on suspicion of harboring intelligence, but refused to answer questions, behaved “in a very insolent, scandalous, and indecent manner,” and departed without leave; Committee held that she was an enemy to her country. [SCRIB4:285-6]

Edmiston, David- Augusta Co; Court Martial 13 Apr 1779, Capt Trimble, summoned for not not appearing at muster 8 Apr 1779. [ACCM:122]

Edmonds, George- Augusta Co Court Martial 17 Oct 1776, Capt Robertson’s delinquents, summoned for not going out in Gilmer’s comp when drafted. [ACCM:64]

Edwards, James- Nansemond County; 17 May 1779, signed promissory note to “appear whenever we may be called” by Gen Mathew or any other officer commanding His Majesty’s forces, otherwise to remain peaceably at home. [CVSP1:319]

Edwards, William- Northumberland County, 18 Sept 1780 circular from County Lt Thomas Gaskins stating that on the 14th and 15th of Sept, Edwards participated in a riot against the draft law and then absconded, and he was therefore condemned and ordered to be apprehended. [GASKINS]

Eilbeck, Jonathan- Norfolk; Loyalist claim; Went from England to VA in 1767; Joined Dunmore’s Army in 1775, went to NY in 1776; Went to Bermuda; Joined British Army en route to VA, and captured by French; Taken prisoner to RI. [C:141-2]

Ellegood, Jacob- Princess Anne Co; Loyalist claim; son of Jacob Ellegood, Princess Anne Co County Lieutenant; Took his father’s place after death; Ralliedd to Lord Dunmore’s standard in 1775 with “more than 600 men”; Commanded the Queen’s Loyal Virginian Regt; Captured and kept in prison 5 years. Elliott, George- Henry Co; 21 Jan 1777, ordered he be summoned to appear in court, he being a native of Great Britain, to show cause why he should not depart the Colony, per Act of Assembly; 30 Jan 1777, he did not appear in court, and the court were of opinion that he fell under the relevant Act; 16 Mar 1778, county court were opinion that he did not fall under the relevant Act.
