McDaniel, Henry– Bedford County Court, 24 Nov 1778, The Commonwealth vs. Henry McDaniel, upon an information on an Act of Assembly for the punishment of certain offences, found guilty and fined 200 pounds. He filed for a new trial, which was granted, but there is no further record. The statute in view, enacted in Oct 1776, provided that individuals who “by any word, open deed, or act, advisedly and willingly maintain and defend the authority, jurisdiction, or power, to the king or parliament of Great Britain” would be subject to fine or imprisonment.
