Jackson, John– 30 March 1779, Va. issued warrant for 16.10.- to John Jackson for serving as a spy for the militia in Botetourt in July last (Creel, Selected Virginia Revolutionary War Records, vol 3, 89, with ref. to Library of Virginia, Record Group 48, Auditor of Public Accounts, Inventory Entry 34, Daybooks: Receipts and Warrants, Auditors’ Account Volume II, 44).

Jameson, David- In accounts of William Finnie, Deputy Quarter Master General, 6 June 1776, “paid David Jameson for wood at York Town 20.8.-” (APA 245).

Jenkins, John– Receipt Oct 1778, “John Jinking” received of Charles Lyne 1.8.- “for a pr. britchs for one of the negroes belonging to mines,” wit. John Ward (APA 661, “Lead Mines”). Additional receipts for this man in the file.

Johnson, John- 17 March 1779, Va. issued warrant for 386.-.- to Jno. Johnson, Okey- 2 Dec 1782, Okey Johnson received 10/- of Joseph Nevill for stableage and diets etc for use of some of the Hampshire militia attending the Surveyor in running the boundary line between Virginia and Pennsylvania (APA 139, folder “1783”).

Johnson, Thomas– (1) Louisa County; On a list of certificates issued by Thomas Johnson, Commissioner of the Provision Law, 6 Sept 1780, “Cap. Thos. Johnson”  issued certificate for public services valued to 2544.19.4 (2) Louisa County; On a list of certificates issued by Thomas Johnson Commissioner of the Provision Law in 1780 & 1781 for services for the publick etc., certificate issued to “Capt Thomas Johnson” for pasturing & providing forage for 44 cattle, 320.0.0 (APA 238).

Jones, Elizabeth- 22 March 1781, J. Beckley certifies that Mrs. Elizabeth Jones has taken care of and cleaned the public buildings during the present session of Assembly (APA 139, folder “1781”).

Jones, Gabriel– Rockingham County; In a booklet of John Smith relative to cows that he collected and drove to Winchester, showing Gabriel Jones for 1 beef, Nov 1781 (APA 238).

Jones, Howel– In a booklet of Charles Lynch, Superintendent of the Lead Mines, showing accounts of cash exchanged for provisions for the use of the mines in 1780: Howel Jones for 42 lbs tallow (APA 661).
