Tally, John- Northumberland County, 18 Sept 1780 circular from County Lt Thomas Gaskins stating that on the 14th and 15th of Sept, Tally participated in a riot against the draft law and then absconded, and he was therefore condemned and ordered to be apprehended. [GASKINS]

Tarpley, Thomas (Dr.)- Loyalist claim; Richmond Co; Estate on Rappahannock River laid waste; Refused to take rebel side. [C:475]

Townshend, Elias- 15 Jan 1776, Convention Committee found that he was taken by a party of Lord Dunmore’s and forced to march with his troops to Great Bridge, that he was afterwards sent in a tender to the Eastern Shore and, being drive ashore, was taken prisoner, ordered to remain a prisoner of war at discretion of Committee of Safety. Townshend, Levi- 15 Jan 1776, Convention Committee found that he was taken by a party of Lord Dunmore’s and forced to march with his troops to Great Bridge, that he was afterwards sent in a tender to the Eastern Shore and, being drive ashore, was taken prisoner, ordered to remain prisoner of war at discretion of Committee of Safety. [SCRIB5:406-7]

Townshend, Levin- 15 Jan 1776, Convention Committee found that he was taken by a party of Lord Dunmore’s and forced to march with his troops to Great Bridge, that he was afterwards sent in a tender to the Eastern Shore and, being drive ashore, was taken prisoner; the Committee also found that “it appeared the said Levin was desirous of making his escape from the service,” ordered to remain a prisoner of war at discretion of Committee of Safety. Turner, Henry- 15 Jan 1776, Convention Committee found that he acted as militia men in the Battle of Kemps landing against Lord Dunmore, after which he was forced into Dunmore’s service by Col Jacob Ellegood and fought at Great Bridge, ordered he remain prisoner of war at discretion of Committee of Safety. Turner, John- Loyalist claim; Spotsylvania Co; Fled to British lines in NY 1778; Led party to intercept dispatches from Congress to George Washington; Taken prisoner, escaped. His loyalist companions John Moody, James O’Hara and Richardson Devonport also escaped, but he was the only one to survive. [C:496]
