Phillips, Benjamin– “Benjn. Phillips” a Sergeant on a “pay roll for provitions found in Capt Peter A. Sturgises company of Kentuckey County Millitia in actual service under command of Col. George R. Clerk on an expedition against the Shewanee Towns commenceing July the 18th 1780 and ending the 21st of Augst. 1780” (APA 206, Box 662).

Porter, Patrick– Russell County; (1) [affidavit] 16 Sept 1789, Peter Alley came before Charles Cocke JP and made oath that in 1776 he served in Capt Martin’s company as a soldier on the western frontier five months, and found his own rations and has never received compensation for it…same date, Sgt Patrick Porter appeared before Thos. Carter and made oath that Peter Alley served as a soldier under Capt Joseph Martin and by name was neglected in the pay roll; (2)  [the following regards the account of Patrick Porter. It is two sided sheet that appears to relate mostly the receipt of beef for Duncan’s Fort] Duncan’s Fort, 15 Aug 1778, received from Patrick Porter 210 pounds of neat beef, [signed] Patr. Porter (APA 238).
